Loto

I wanted to break an inertia. Change the rhythm I paint with, and step into a palette I’d never touched: pink, white, green. The brushstroke had to be fast, almost aggressive — gesture before calculation, fear left behind. The colors were what led me to the name: that’s where "Loto" came from. What interests me most about this piece is that friction — a delicate, almost fragile palette, held up by a gestural quality that asks no permission. Nothing in "Loto" is entirely soft — even the tenderness has to force its way through.
